Practical Training Session
Hands-on forklift training using two forklifts, covering:
Pre-operational checks

This session provides more seat time than most 2–3 day courses, with personalised coaching for each student.
② 12:00pm onwards
Formal High Risk Work Assessment
Your formal LF assessment begins at 12:00pm, as required by WorkSafe.
Finish times typically range between 2:00pm and 4:30pm depending on assessment flow.

1. Course Outline During this course you will learn to: Apply forklift safety legislation and workplace requirements Conduct pre-operational checks and routine inspections Plan work, identify hazards and assess risks Operate the forklift safely with and without loads Manoeuvre in tight and controlled spaces Follow safe load handling procedures Shut down and secure the forklift correctly

What You Will Learn This course teaches you the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely operate a forklift, including: Practical Skills: Steering and manoeuvring Lifting and lowering loads Stacking and destacking Safe reversing and turning Operating on inclines Working in confined spaces Knowledge Components: Hazard identification & control Load data plates & rated capacity Stability principles Forklift components Workplace safety procedures
3. Assessment Requirements To obtain competency, students must successfully complete: Both Theory & Practical Assessment This begins at 12:00pm on course day Theory Must be passed before participating in the practical assessment Practical Assessment Involves demonstrating safe forklift operation under assessment conditions Students must show competency in load handling, manoeuvring, hazard management and communication Students receive a Statement of Attainment and AS1 form upon successful completion.
4. Eligibility & Entry Requirements To enrol in TLILIC0003 you must: Be 18 years or older Be able to read and write English at a functional level Provide three forms of identification (e.g. Driver’s Licence, Passport, Medicare Card, Visa Grant, Bank Card) Have a USI (Unique Student Identifier) Be physically capable of operating machinery safely
5. What to Bring Please bring the following items: Photo ID (3 types) Closed-in shoes Suitable clothing Hi-vis shirt (if available) Hat, sunscreen, lunch and water
