JTG Free Practical Re-Sit Policy
1. Eligibility for a Free Practical Re-Sit
Students are eligible for one free practical re-assessment if:
-
They have passed the formal theory assessment, and
-
They have completed the full 1-day course, and
-
The trainer has determined the student was ready and safe to undertake the practical assessment on the day.
If these conditions are met and the student does not pass their practical assessment, the first practical re-sit is free.
2. Relationship to the Extra Training Policy
This free practical re-sit is independent of the free extra training option and applies only when:
-
The student was ready for assessment
-
The student attempted the assessment
-
The student did not require extra training prior to assessment
✔ If the trainer recommended extra training and the student declined and attempted the assessment anyway:
→ The free practical re-sit does NOT apply.
(They attempted against professional advice.)
✔ If the student accepted the recommended free extra training and completed it before their first assessment attempt:
→ They remain eligible for the free practical re-sit, if needed.
3. Situations Where the Free Practical Re-Sit Does NOT Apply
A free re-assessment is not available if:
-
The student attempted the practical assessment against trainer advice
-
The student displayed unsafe behaviour or WHS breaches
-
The student did not complete the full 1-day course
-
The student missed or failed to complete online theory prior to course day
-
The student requires significant remedial training
-
The student requests further training before the re-assessment (see fees below)
In these cases, standard additional training/assessment fees will apply.
4. Further Training After an Unsuccessful Practical
If a student requires further training before a re-assessment attempt:
-
$300 per extra training session applies
-
This is regardless of whether the free re-sit applies
-
Free extra training is only available before the first assessment attempt and only when the trainer recommends it
5. Summary of How It Works
Scenario A — Trainer says student IS ready
Student attempts → Not yet competent → Free practical re-sit applies
If more training needed before re-sit → $300 training fee
Scenario B — Trainer says student is NOT ready
Student accepts free extra training → attempts → Not yet competent → Free practical re-sit applies
Scenario C — Trainer says student is NOT ready
Student declines free extra training and attempts anyway → Not yet competent →
❌ No free re-sit
❌ No free training
➡ Extra training = $300
➡ Re-assessment = standard fee (or included in your package if you decide)
