JTG Extra Training & Re-Assessment Policy

1. Free Extra Training Session (Optional)

Students who have:

  • completed their online theory, and

  • attended the full 1-day course

may be offered one free extra training session if, during the morning training, the trainer determines the student is not yet ready to safely and confidently undertake the practical assessment.

This session is only available from the first training day and must be used before the student’s first assessment attempt.

Student choice:

If the trainer advises additional training is recommended, the student may choose:

Option A — Accept the free extra training

  • The student will return on another day for additional training.

  • Their first assessment attempt will occur after that free training session.

  • If they still do not pass that first assessment attempt, their first re-assessment is free (see section 2).

Option B — Decline the extra training and attempt the assessment on the day

  • The student may choose to proceed with the assessment at 12pm.

  • By choosing to attempt the assessment, the student forfeits their right to the free extra training session.

2. Free Re-Assessment (Practical Assessment Only)

Students who pass their formal theory and attempt their practical assessment are eligible for one free re-assessment, provided they were deemed ready by the trainer.

A free re-assessment is NOT available if:

  • The student was advised to postpone and undertake extra training, but chose to proceed anyway.

  • The student missed or did not complete the full course.

3. Further Training Fees

After the free options (one free extra training OR one free re-assessment, depending on the student’s choices), any additional training is charged at:

$300 per extra training session

This applies when:

  • A student requires more than one extra training session

  • A student fails their free re-assessment and wants further training

  • A student declines recommended free training and later requests extra support

4. Summary of How It Works

Scenario A — Trainer says “You’re not ready,” student accepts free training
➡ Free extra training
➡ First assessment attempt after training
➡ If not yet competent → first re-assessment also free
➡ Further training if needed → $300

Scenario B — Trainer says “You’re not ready,” student insists on attempting assessment
➡ Student attempts the assessment
➡ Free extra training is forfeited
➡ If unsuccessful → NO free re-assessment
➡ All further training sessions = $300

Scenario C — Trainer says student is ready, student attempts assessment
➡ If unsuccessful → first re-assessment is free
➡ Further training if needed → $300
